Tech-enhanced garden room in Thames Ditton

With their children growing up fast, the goal was to craft a space just for the adults — a place to unwind, exercise, and enjoy time together, all backed by seamless AV and Wi-Fi integration.

The client’s pain points

With a growing family and the need for more personal space, the clients wanted to carve out a dedicated retreat away from the main home — somewhere for adults to unwind, entertain, and exercise in peace. Their existing house setup didn’t offer the privacy or flexibility they were after, and they needed a solution that would offer all the comforts of home without compromise.

This new garden building would need to support multiple functions — a bar and lounge area for socialising, and a gym for daily workouts — all with high-quality entertainment and reliable connectivity. But with the building located over 70 metres away from the main house, delivering high-speed networking and AV performance posed a unique technical challenge.

The client’s dream

The goal was to create a multi-functional, tech-enhanced garden room that felt like a natural extension of the home — somewhere to relax, train, stream, and enjoy time with friends, all set within the beautiful surroundings of Thames Ditton.

Working with the incredible team at Into The Garden Room, the clients wanted the finished space to feel modern, immersive, and easy to use. From day one, the vision was clear: build an adult-friendly sanctuary that the family could enjoy for years to come, with seamless AV and smart tech at its core.

Our solutions

Our scope was to fully integrate audio-visual systems and network connectivity across the new garden room — delivering an intuitive setup that performs flawlessly every day.

The Lounge Area features a stunning 65″ LG OLED TV paired with a Sonos ARC Sound Bar, offering crisp visuals and immersive sound in a relaxed social setting. In the Gym, we replicated the experience on a slightly smaller scale, with a 48″ LG OLED TV and another Sonos ARC to keep the motivation high through every workout.

One of the biggest challenges was the distance from the main property — over 70m across the garden. To guarantee rock-solid performance, we undertook external groundwork to run a dedicated fibre line from the house, feeding a robust Ubiquiti network system that now delivers high-speed Wi-Fi throughout the building.

The result? A beautifully connected, multi-use garden room that’s now used daily — and a very happy client who was “over the moon” with the finished result.
