Smart home installation in London
Art of Integration designs and installs smart homes across London: Control4 automation, Lutron lighting, multi-room audio, Wi-Fi networks, motorised blinds and security, brought together so one app, keypad or remote runs the house. We are a Platinum Control4 dealer and won the Control4 Circle of Excellence in 2023, 2024 and 2025. Our showroom is in Walton-on-Thames, a short drive from south-west London, and travelling into London is part of how we work every week.
The cost of a smart home installation depends on how many rooms and systems you want controlled, whether cables can be run or the system needs to be wireless, and the keypads, screens and speakers you choose. Pricing is by project, not postcode, so a London home costs no more than one in Surrey. We give you a room-by-room figure at design stage, after a free consultation.
What a London smart home includes
Most smart homes we design are built on Control4, which ties the other systems together:
- Lutron lighting control, with scenes for each floor and one keypad in place of a bank of switches
- motorised blinds and curtains on the same keypads as the lighting
- multi-room audio and video, including Sonos, from one central equipment rack
- Wi-Fi and a wired network, so coverage is as strong on the top floor as it is by the router
- cameras, door entry and alerts you can check from your phone
- heating control alongside everything else
If you are planning a cinema room as well, our home cinema installation in London page covers that side of the work.
Terraced houses, mansion flats and period homes
London homes set their own rules. A tall terraced house needs a keypad on every floor and a wired network backbone up the building, so the top floor is not a Wi-Fi dead zone. In a mansion flat the walls, risers and roof are usually shared, and your lease may require the freeholder's or managing agent's consent before any cabling, so we agree cable routes before work starts.
In period and listed homes, wireless control earns its place. Lutron's RadioRA 3 was designed to be retrofitted without opening walls or pulling new wires. If your home is listed, internal works can need listed building consent, so we agree keypad positions and cable routes with you and your architect first. Our guide to smart lighting in listed and period homes explains the detail.
Smart home projects in London
In Hampstead we installed the home automation system throughout the house, with the Lutron lighting integrated into Control4 so everything runs from one interface. At Roehampton Gate, a basement cinema for a family of seven runs from one remote, with Lutron lighting and Control4 automation behind it. In Canary Wharf, our Oasis Bar and Terrace installation gave staff one control interface for Sonance audio and Rako lighting scenes, delivered ahead of schedule.
Not every project starts from scratch. In Wimbledon Village we upgraded an existing Wi-Fi and Sonos system:
“We brought in Art of Integration to upgrade the WiFi and Sonos system at our home in Wimbledon Village. From the first visit, it was clear they knew exactly what they were doing.”

Why use a Control4 dealer for your smart home
Smart gadgets each come with their own app and rarely talk to each other. A professionally designed system is programmed around how your household lives: a goodnight button that turns off the lights downstairs, lowers the blinds and sets the heating, or a leaving-home button that turns everything off at once.
We design, program and support the system ourselves. When we install a Control4 system you get a 12 month installation warranty covering Control4 programming errors, plus a 2 year manufacturer's warranty on Control4 equipment. After handover, our in-house maintenance team, led by our Technical Services Director, Nick Dunning, supports it. Many faults are resolved remotely, and when a visit is needed you deal with the team that built the system.
