Bespoke lighting design and installation
Smart home lighting puts you in control of your lighting. Customise the look and feel of your room in an instant, from your home or your phone. We all look better with the right lighting, and the same goes for your beautiful home.
Our lighting installations mean that you decide how much light and shade you have in a room at any one time. There’s no ‘one size fits all’ answer. We take the time to truly understand what you want and need before designing your ideal lighting and shading solutions in your home.
Highlight your favourite interior design features, create the right mood and optimise wellbeing with intelligent lighting. Create a cosy feel for movie night, an energy-boosting vibe in the gym, or ramp up the party feel for a social gathering. All of this, and so much more, is possible at the touch of a button with modern smart lighting control systems.

How does a smart home lighting system work?
We’ll try to avoid going into the nitty gritty, tech geek talk on a step-by-step lighting set-up here.
A smart lighting system connects smart lighting to an app on a smart device via bluetooth or wifi connection. Your network of smart lighting fixtures can all be controlled from a single point.
Simply tap a keypad in your home, an app on your smart phone or tablet, or give a voice command to a smart speaker like Amazon Alexa, Amazon Echo or Google Home. It’s as easy as saying, “Alexa, turn on kitchen ceiling light,”, and it happens.
That means you can control all of your lighting, and your shades, from a single point - wherever you are in the world.
Motorised blinds and curtains
Blinds and curtains can share the same keypads and scenes as your lighting. We cover them in detail on our motorised blinds and curtains page.
What a lighting control system does
Whether you call it lighting control or a smart lighting system, it takes the decisions out of individual switches and puts them into one designed system. Instead of a row of rockers that each work a single circuit, a keypad by the door sets several circuits at once, to levels chosen for that moment. Press Dinner and the pendants drop, the wall lights come up softly and the kitchen downlights fade to a glow; press Off on the way out and the whole floor follows.
Behind the keypad sit three parts. Dimmer modules do the switching and dimming, either grouped in a central rack or placed near the fittings they control. Keypads and touchscreens send the commands, engraved so each button says what it does. A processor or hub holds the programming: the scenes, the timers and settings that follow dawn and dusk through the year. Connect that to motorised blinds and a wider smart home system, and the same keypad can close the curtains and start the music.
We install three main platforms. Lutron lighting control runs from whole-home HomeWorks to wireless RadioRA 3, and Lutron makes its own blinds too. Rako is made in the UK and offers wireless, wired or combined systems in one product family, which suits sensitive retrofits. Control4 has its own lighting control as well, which runs the film and sport scenes in our Oxshott and Weybridge cinemas, and Lutron and Rako can both link to Control4. Which one fits depends on the house, how much new cable it can take and whether you want lighting and shading from one maker. Our guide to planning lighting scenes shows how we build the scene list room by room.
